In this lesson on Networked Systems, I learned that computer networks serve as the foundation of modern communication. They allow devices to connect, share data, and communicate efficiently, which makes technologies like cloud computing and remore work. Understanding how data communication, data representation and how it moves across networks helped me see how important proper network design is in ensuring reliable and fast communication.

I also learned about networking protocols and how they act as rules that allow devices to communicate properly. Without these protocols, devices would not be able to understand each other. This made me realize that networks are not just about physical connections but also about structured communication standards.

Overall, this lesson helped me better understand how data is transmitted, managed, and protected within a network.

Based on our UPOU modules, single-processor system is a computer system that uses only one CPU to execute instructions and handle user input. Since there is only one processor, only one process can run at a time. The CPU, often called the “brain” of the computer, performs calculations, processes data, and manages the system’s overall operations.

In this module, I also learned that single-processor systems rely heavily on the operating system. Most of the services provided such as process scheduling, memory management, and input/output handling are controlled by the operating system. This made me realize how important the operating system is in making sure tasks are executed efficiently, especially when only one core is available.

We also conducted a comparative experiment using AWS instances to observe the difference between single-core and multi-core systems under stress load. By analyzing the performance during high CPU usage, I saw how single-core systems struggled more when handling multiple tasks, while multi-core systems distributed the workload more efficiently. The stress testing clearly showed the limitations of single-core processing and the performance advantages of multi-core systems.

Overall, this experiment helped me better understand the practical differences between single-core and multi-core architectures and how system performance changes under heavy workloads.

Meet Jade!

I work full time as an OFW, and my journey has shaped me into someone strong, independent, and determined. Living and working abroad is not always easy, but it has helped me grow, become more responsible, and appreciate every opportunity that comes my way.

🌏 Loves Exploring

I have a deep love for traveling. Exploring new places, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures excite me. Every destination teaches me something new and opens my mind to different perspectives in life.

I especially love the beach and island life because I grew up in the province close to the Pacific. The sound of the waves, the salty breeze, and the peaceful vibe of the ocean will always feel like home to me.

📸 Capturing Moments

Photography is one of my passions. I love capturing simple yet meaningful moments, whether it is a beautiful sunset, everyday street scenes, or nature’s beauty. For me, photos are memories that last forever.

🍳 Enjoys Cooking

Cooking is another thing I truly enjoy. It allows me to be creative and reminds me of home. I love trying new recipes and experimenting with flavors from different cultures I encounter along the way.

🚀 Believes in Growth

I am open minded and always willing to learn new skills. I believe life is a continuous learning process. Every challenge helps me improve, and every experience shapes me into a better version of myself.

🤝 Value Connections

I enjoy meeting new people and building genuine connections. Learning from others and sharing stories makes life richer and more meaningful.

I am simply someone who works hard, dreams big, loves the ocean, and embraces every opportunity to grow and explore.
